Tobey Hillel Roland Family Scholarship for Excellence in Community Service, Leadership and Spanish

This scholarship is open to outstanding students who are studying Spanish. All applicants must meet the following requirements:

• A 250-500-word essay written in Spanish to share the applicant’s achievements, community service and/or passions beyond the scope of academic coursework. Applicants are encouraged to include information and/or links relevant to their personal achievements. Essays must be original and written solely by the applicant. AI-generated or AI-assisted submissions will not be accepted. Faculty in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures will review each essay submitted as part of the application process;
• Full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate students;
• Declared major in Foreign Languages with a concentration in Spanish/Spanish Education or successor program, or students enrolled in the graduate certificate in Professional Spanish;
• Undergraduate 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher; graduate certificate 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher; and
• Undergraduate applicants must demonstrate financial need as defined by the Financial Aid Office. Graduate applicants are not required to demonstrate financial need to be eligible for consideration.
