Tobey Hillel Roland Family Scholarship in Spanish

This scholarship is open to students with a declared major in Foreign Languages with a concentration in Spanish/Spanish Education or students enrolled in the graduate certificate in Professional Spanish. All applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate students;
  • Declared major in Foreign Languages with a concentration in Spanish/Spanish Education or students enrolled in the graduate certificate in Professional Spanish;
  • Undergraduate 3.0 GPA or higher; Graduate certificate 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher;
  • Demonstrated financial need as defined by the Financial Aid Office; and
  • A 250-500-word essay written in Spanish to share the applicant’s achievements, community service and/or passions beyond the scope of academic coursework. Applicants are encouraged to include information (and/or links) relevant to their personal achievements. Essays must be original and written solely by the applicant – AI-generated or AI-assisted submissions will not be accepted. Faculty in the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department will review each essay submitted as part of the application process.
