Jeremiah J. German Endowed Scholarship in Economics
The Jeremiah J. German Scholarship in Economics is open to junior economics majors who are entering their senior year.
- Students must have completed ECON 309 and 310 by the end of the Spring semester.
- Scholarship is based on academic achievement.
- Applicants must write a 750-word essay on a topic that will be announced to all eligible students each year.

- In our current global economic arena, are tariffs an effective strategy for protecting domestic industries and encouraging domestic economic growth, or do they create more harm than benefit? Which US industries are most likely to be impacted—positively or negatively—from a possible new US tariff policy and why? Essay should be no longer than 750 words. References are encouraged and will not be considered part of your 750-word limit. The essay will be a key factor in determining the winner.
