Applied Ethics and National Security Scholarship
This scholarship is open to students with a declared major or minor in the College of Liberal Arts. All applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Full-time undergraduate students;
- Declared major or minor in the College of Liberal Arts;
- 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher;
- 1000-word essay that demonstrates application of ethics in an area(s) related to national security. Possible topics could include ethical issues in areas surrounding artificial intelligence, social media, cyber warfare, law of armed conflict, any US Department of Defense policies. Essay will be evaluated based on writing quality, identification, and clear description of at least one specific issue, how ethics impact the issue(s), and use of specific examples to highlight the discussion. References, if used, need to be accurately cited. In keeping with the spirit of the award, we ask applicants to run their essay through an AI content detector checker and to submit the report together with the essay.
